DETAILS
Previously unavailable, the music from The Black Windmill is from Roy Budd’s early period of work and was one of his first thriller scores. The music is mean and moody, accompanied by tablas, double bass, cool jazz grooves and some heavy orchestral riffs - a wonderful example of what was great about Budd.
Recorded in 1973, The Black Windmill represents a stage in his career between Get Carter and Fear is The Key, where he had started to write for larger orchestral arrangements.
Directed by Don Siegel, the film features Michael Caine as a British secret agent faced with his son’s kidnapping.
